New C4D plugin crashes the program often

Post by antoniokriisp »

Hello,

Since updating to new cinema4d plugin I've experienced crashes constantly. They happen when I move the puck.

Is this a known issue, are you working on a solution?
Anyone else experiencing this?

I did the usual stuff, reinstalling cinema and 3Dconnexion drivers.

Using latest version of cinema and drivers.

Best regards,
Antonio

Same problem here. Windows 11, C4D 2023.2 3dconnexion 8.1.12. C4D crashes when moving the navigation button. C4D support:
Cinema 4D Technical Support (Maxon Support)
You forwarded a bugreport to us on 2023/04/07.
The crash was caused by your currently installed driver from 3Dconnexion.
Please install the latest drivers from 3Dconnexions homepage or try to remove the driver completely to avoid further crashes.

Why was there no testing before release? Besides, the new connexion driver not only causes crashes, you can use the device only to navigate in the scene, you cannot move the objects any more.

Very disappointing.

I really hope this isn't a serious answer.

We are aware of these reports but we haven't been able to reproduce the issue.

Does the application always crash as soon as you move the SpaceMouse sensor cap or does it look random?

Can you reproduce this issue? I even included a video and scene file.

https://forum.3dconnexion.com/viewtopic ... 25&t=53202

It's pretty clear that the driver integration is severely lacking compared to performance with previous versions of C4D (the natively supported versions).

It's random. 10-20 times a day, different projects, different c4d environments (I think it likes to crash in uv-map workspace)

Heh, just found out I can replicate the crash 100% of the time. I just open this scene, go to UV-edit workspace and move the puck, immediate crash.

This link does not seem to work: only allowed Google accounts can access the file.

Perhaps you can send us a non-restricted link over PM in this Forum?

Thank you for providing the data. We tried to reproduce the crash but we couldn't.

If possible, please share your Cinema 4D preferences and the contents of the following directory (zip file):

Code: Select all

%APPDATA%\3Dconnexion
It may be that we're not following the correct steps to see the crash. If you can, confirm what do we need to do to reproduce the crash. For example, how a document is loaded by the application may be an important detail.

Here are the files.

I would load via recent-file menu.
