Space Explorer randomly forgets button configuration

Post by 3dan »

I was annoyed this morning as after spending time yesterday setting up cusom functions and assigning them to buttons I found all had been forgotton / lost.

I have done a full uninstall, deleted relevant folders and registry keys, rebooted and reinstalled. I then reconfigured and some custom functions and buttons. I have now rebooted and alothough the custom functions remain this time some of the button assignments have been lost.

I am running XP 32bit, Maya, with a Space Explorer USB

Thanks for any suggestions

Hi 3dan,

Please use the Maya Button Mapping Editor instead of the regular 3Dconnexion Control Panel to map your buttons.

The Maya Button mapping Editor is (Maya 2009) available under

Code: Select all

3Dcontrol -> Button Mapping Editor

OK it seems Custom Functions need to be written in 3Dconnexion control panel with Maya open. Then Maya needs to be restarted before the button can be mapped into the Maya button mapping editor. I can't see a way of mapping buttons directly in the 3DC Maya button mapping editor, but it seems to give good feedback on whether the changes made in the 3D Connexion control panel work or not.
