MAYA camera control degraded

Post by sirpiltrafus »

Hi.
The behavior of the 3dconnexion camera control in MAYA (any version) has changed from what it was some time ago and it is just unusable now.
The issue is that the speed of the camera movement and rotation gets multiplied by the distance to the world center.
SO for a quick test when you turn Maya on and create a cube etc it seems to work. Or for a modeler working on a single asset at the center of the world.
However when you go away from the center the camera becomes really hard to control. So it becomes useless for previs where you have many shots with different camera positions all over the space.
Before, in the past, the camera speed was multiplied by the "CENTER OF INTEREST" value of the camera. so it was controllable and constant.

P.S. 3dconnexion used to be a great tool. It's been a bit useless in Maya for a while between faulty drivers and steps back like this.

Using 10.6.7 drivers but it's been like that for a while.
Good drivers for Maya where 10.4.4 for example. They crashed Maya often but they had the correct camera behavior.

So the question is. Can we go back to the old behavior of camera speed being independent of the world position?
