Having issues installing 10.5.12 r2890

Post by alidayvn »

Hello,
I've painted myself into a corner. I thought the "clean-uninstall" method of renaming sub-directories, deleting key DLL, renaming registry keys advised on official 3Dconnexion support forum would help but it doesn't seem to have done anything to have done anything for my situation.
In my efforts to get my 3D mouse back, I've painted myself into a corner with below:
1. Ddvised wipe of 3Dconnexion DLL.
2. Completely wipe of all 3Dconnexion references in registry, which did not help. No backups as reinstall had always worked before.
3. Attempted to install in Admin mode with Antivirus off.

There is no error page, no crashes, nothing at all to indicate a problem except for the issue that started all this. The install dialog at "3Dconnexion 3DxWare 10 (64-bit)" is frozen at "...configuring your new software installation." With no movement in the spec of green bar for hours (until I kill the task).

Have not yet tried:
Wiping temporary install file directory.

Other factors:
The workstation is Win 10 64bit, have been having issues with Maya 2018, NVIDIA and Windows Update conflicting and crashing but never thought 3Dmouse would be collateral damage if at all. Otherwise, system is stable and other software installs and uninstalls fine.
I have CCleaner Pro and BitDefender in case that matters.

Scorched Earth seems only option to get 3D mouse back (that is full reinstall of Windows BTW).
Input would be very welcome. I'm out of ideas.

This way of 3DxWare driver removal is not recommend. Follow my steps to save your 3Dconnexion and 3DxWare without Windows OS complete re-installation.

Go to C:\Windows\Installer, and find 3Dconnexion 3DxWinCore installer 98656.msi , or a *.msi file with file size around 34 MB that comes with digital signature by 3Dconnexion SAM, delete it.

Don't use Ccleaner, use PrivaZer portable version. PrivaZer is far better than Ccleaner. Download if from here the portable version: https://privazer.com/en/PrivaZer.exe Right click PrivaZer.exe and click 'Run as administrator', Go to main menu, choose 'In Registry' from the drop-down menu, tick 'Start cleaning' and click 'Scan' and wait to click clean.

Now restart your PC and install 3DxWare again, it should works.

Tell me the final result if you get the problem done.

Hello alidayvn,

we do not recommend to use any 3rd party tool to uninstall our software. You should as well not remove any installation folder manually.

I recommend to contact our Technical Support Team. They can do the necessary troubleshooting and if needed escalate it to the next level.

I have a similar problem, the 3DxWare 10.6.2 was crashing each time i tried to change settings so tried to uninstall and re install earlier version unfortunately it will not uninstall nor will it modify tried removing with window repair but it still exists so im stuck unable to do anything. The next step is to contact support however this is not possible due to a constant loop on the web site that stops me setting up an account, the it specialists i have at the workplace have also hit a dead end. i am hoping that a reinstall of Windows will solve the problem unless anyone has a better solution.

See my above reply, try uninstall 3DxWare 10.6.2 that way.
