New purchase - many questions

Post by RLGL »

Windows 10 on a PC running the latest version all updated. I have Sketchup Pro 2019 latest version. Spacemouse Pro Wireless. Length of ownership 2 days. Driver 10.6.0.
I was unable to install the driver from its package. To get it installed I had to unpack it and install pieces. I did try to install right clicking on the package and selecting run as administrator. The message for the failed install is Setup.exe has stopped working. This is immediately after selecting the install language. Any ideas??
In device manager the driver installed is from Microsoft??? Is this because of the driver install issue? It is listed under mice and other pointing devices.
With Disable on-screen display not checked I get a layout of the four number keys displayed on the screen, they do nothing. If I check disable on-screen display, I the features I have selected function. Normal???
The menu key from within Sketchup does nothing. On the desktop with no apps open it works Ideas??
Is there an indicator to alert the user if dominant is enabled or not??
Zoom extents only functions if an item is selected on the model. Is this normal? The zoom is for the item selected only and not the complete current view that Sketchup displays when the command is invoked from within SU.

Can you also post some screenshots of your Windows OS error log like this one?

Other program installs are normal. I think something is missing in the driver package.

Strange. Try extract twice the installer with 7-zip and run the install wizard within the 3DxWare folder.

Yeah that my fix the problem, but these drivers are the only problem I have had since this system was set up. Since the failed driver install I have installed 2 major program updates with the "install shield" with no issues. For now I will put up with it and see what happens with the next driver release. (remembering that newer is not always better). As far as a fresh install of windows.... not on the calendar.

How about reset the PC OS? There's a 'Reset this PC' button in Windows 10 OS.

The option is close to doing a fresh install, keeps documents etc and removes all programs. The time needed to accomplish this task is not on the radar screen until late next year .

It's almost like 3Dconnexion company is in a crisis mode ever since its split with Logitech, with high employee turnover rate...the driver is a nightmare for some people...

This iss definitely something our our Technical Support Team can help you with. (No need to reinstall Windows!)

No, the only place to see this is in the properties window (driver window).
