Hello dunkane60,

the SpaceMouse Compact (3DC-700059) is the successor of the SpaceNavigator (3DX-700028). The SpaceNavigator isn't produced anymore and we don't sell it. Resellers might still have them in stock, but the SpaceMouse Compact is the newer model.

I would like to know the difference in all specifications. Such as weight, dimensions of the overall assembly, dimensions of the top control, and differences in features. Maybe you could link to the user manual for both if they have those specs? Seems to be zero info on your site about the older model. Usually mfrs retain specs and drivers for old models in a 'discontinued' section on their site.

Also, does the old model use the same drivers as the new model?

Thanks

Hi david_x,

I will see if I get the specifications for the SpaceNavigator.

Drivers are still available as the current driver still supports the SpaceNavigator. See here for more information about the lifetime of our products. Once the SpaceNavigator would not be supported by the actual driver you will still find the legacy drivers in the driver archive.

Yes, I'd want to know what the differences are between all of the requirements. Weight, total assembly dimensions, top control size, and feature discrepancies are only a few examples. If both have those requirements, perhaps you could link to the user manual for both? There appears to be no information on your website concerning the earlier model. Manufacturers usually save specs and drivers for defunct models in a 'discontinued' section of their website.2 player games

I just received the 3DX-700059 (SpaceMouse Compact). The general dimensions and weight are approximately the same. The stainless steel base tapers a bit more, so the side buttons are about 3 mm closer together.

The side buttons are not rubberized (which isn't an issue), and have a slightly more audible click.

The non-slip base has more than twice as much rubber in contact with the desk. However, it doesn't grip quite as well - though it doesn't slide around during normal use.

It feels a bit smaller and less supportive of my hand's rest position, probably due to the increased taper. The knob is basically the same, with a bit more shiny plastic on top.

That said, I've been using the same 3DX-700028 form factor since 2006, so I'm probably hyper-accustomed to it.
