Hi, have a problem
My FreeCAD is unable to find the space mouse. The menu tab says "No Spaceball Present". I have tried reinstalling freecad but it won't help. Anyone had the same problem?

Re: Unable to find the space mouse
Hi Kov_T,
we (3Dconnexion) do not have official information that FreeCAD supports our 3D mouse devices. See our list of supported applications.
However I did some research in the web and found it seems that FreeCAD has implemented the support for the SpaceNavigator using a third party driver which we do not support from our side. You will have to address this with the FreeCAD community.

Re: Unable to find the space mouse
Hi,
My computer cannot find my Spacemouse either.
When I run in terminal, it hangs until I unplug the Spacemouse. The same happens with and on system start-up and shut-down.
I'm running Ubuntu 16.4.3 LTS with spacenavd. I tried also 3DxWare with no luck (hanged as well) but this might also be due to spacenavd being installed. Yesterday I found some instructions that I should have done something like this: (eg. here viewtopic.php?f=22&t=1388) but terminal tells me that the mount point does not exist.
Yet dmesg seems to find it:
But I don't know how to advance from here.
I've tried to use my Spacemouse on an older (about 7 yrs) Mac Pro but the led only flashes on start up and the device doesn't work. I managed to get it working (still without the led ) on Win XP that is bootcamped on the Mac but I wouldn't want to start using it because my Linux system is way newer.
I sent a support request on this matter yesterday and I apologize that I only now post here and have more information.

Re: Unable to find the space mouse
As I've tried to solve this problem I found out that the mounting-of-the-usb-devices -instruction has been deprecated since Ubuntu 13.04. The forum post does still point out that there might be other places where the same information might be found on a newer system but I'm not sure how to implement that.

Hello Animotor,
ubuntu is not a supported operating system. See here.
Additionally we do not support the 3rd party driver. You need to contact the provider of the driver for support with this.

Re: Unable to find the space mouse
The problem proved out to be hardware related and I've now received a new SpaceMouse Pro. Yay!
Before the issue was solved, the support person asked me to test the product on a supported system which was in my case a newest Windows version. This time the SpaceMous seemed to work first but then it started to jump on and off. The on-stages lasted always about 9 seconds but the off-stages grew 2-4 seconds longer on each round. After I reported this result to the support person, he instructed me to do a hardreset on the device but this didn't help. I will still post the resetting instructions here if it helps some one else. Although, I won't advice anyone to try this without consulting the support first.

Then I was asked to provide proof of purchasing the product (to check the validity of warranty) and after that there were a couple of other steps before a new device was delivered on my door.Unplug the device from the USB port, then press and hold 2 buttons (it does not matter which buttons) and plug the device back into the USB port while still pressing 2 buttons.
Keep the buttons pressed for at least 10 seconds.
