Maya 2018 OSX

Post by Climberfx »

Hello.

And here goes the novel again.
Is there any prediction for the time release of Maya 2018 driver compatible release?

Hello Climberfx,

unfortunately I cannot make any prediction. :( But I can tell you that we are working on it.
I will let you know once this is available.

How about beta version of the driver? I would be happy to test it since I am using maya in both OSX and WIN10 these days.
I am also using many other 3D apps as well.

I'm a new user of 3Dconnexion products (SpacePilot Pro).

The OP asked a question about drivers 29 days ago.

Win users got their drivers 16 days ago.

I'm not a developer by any stretch, but why does it take so long? Does 3Dc normally take over a month to create new drivers for new releases of Maya (or other DCC software)?

Well, to be truly, yea, they do. They do take a long time to get on the last release do update their drivers, and worth of that, the driver stop working on each every minor update from Maya.
Saad, but is true.

ClimberFX,
Glad I didn't buy this new, then! I was THIS close to buying the enterprise SpaceMouse. Thanks for the history.

I've been checking every day on the drivers page...and the sad thing? Win users got an UPDATE to 10.5 before OS X even GETS 10.5.

Sad indeed...

Hold on, soon we will get ours.
In the moment you accept as it is, and hold some more time before you jump to a new release software, this delay is bearable.

Hi

Is it just me but is my 3d mouse is not working anymore with Maya 2018.1 ?

I did already clean reinstall for the driver and it works perfectly in 3D coat and in Rhino but not in Maya 2018.1

In maya console i get following errors

// Error: line 1: Cannot find procedure "_3DxOnMotionEvent". //
// Error: line 1: Cannot find procedure "_3DxOnButtonEvent". //
// Error: line 1: Cannot find procedure "_3DxOnButtonEvent". //

Hello Janoshx,

it seems the plugin is not installed. Please check if you have the following files in /Users/Shares/Autodesk/Maya/scripts :
  • C3DxButtonEditor.mel
  • C3DxControlPanel.mel
  • C3DxMapping.mel
  • C3DxMatrix.mel
  • C3DxView.mel
  • MagellanStartup.mel
  • usersetup.mel
If this is the case please enter "MagellanStartup" (without the quotes) in the MEL line (usually at the bottom of the window).
