trouble getting the device working

Post by ToastBusters »

I'm trying to get the space navigator working on my linux desktop. As of now, it's not even lighting up.

When I mount -t usbfs none /proc/bus/usb I get the following:

Code: Select all

mount: none already mounted or /proc/bus/usb busy
mount: according to mtab, procbususb is already mounted on /proc/bus/usb

When I try to start the driver with /etc/3DxWare/daemon/3dxsrv -d usb I get this:

Code: Select all

Error: 3dxsrv.c :: startupCommandLine(), authGetUser(), failed to get user
Okay, but the device isn't lit up... and when I try running xcube I get this:

Code: Select all

3DxWare: xdrvlib.c
3DxWare MotionEvent = 0
3DxWare ButtonPressEvent = 0
3DxWare ButtonReleaseEvent = 0
3DxWare CommandEvent = 0

No driver is running. Exit ...
I'm running ubuntu 7.04, and driver version 1.2.11. let me know if you need any other information to get this thing working. Thanks!

okay, I have an update. I searched around the forums and tried the hack on this thread, which did the trick. The driver is now loaded, and I can play with the cube.

So now I load up blender and find that left/right axis rotation is not working. (tilting the cap forward/backward and rotating it does work though) I know it's not the device itself, because this feature works in the cubedemo. The 3DxWare window that came up seems to be of no help because everything is up with the sensitivity cranked (as per my preference)

is this a blender limitation or is something wrong?
