Hi torniaccio,
Please let generate log files while re-installing 3DxSoftware. You can do that by following the next steps:
1. Open a command-line prompt (on Vista it must be an "administrator" prompt)
2. Change to the folder where 3DxSoftware is saved
3. Execute the command:
3DxSoftware_vX-Y-Z /c:"3DxSoftware /a /z'/logpath=c:\temp'"
where 3DxSoftware_vX-Y-Z is the 3DxSoftware redistributable package (for example: 3DxSoftware_v3-1-1) and c:\temp is the folder where the MSI logs will be created.

Hi ago,
I'm sorry but I did not understand something.
Do I must follow the 3 steps after or before re-installing the 3dx software, or u really mean WHILE?
Do I must remove all the 3dx sw before?
What I got to do with the MSI logs?
When I execute the command u wrote, do I have to change the x-y-z with the driver release numbers?
Thanks for your help!
Ciao, Roberto

Log file generation while installing 3DxSoftware
Hi tormaccio
I am sorry for the confusion. The description I have posted is for the generation of a log file while running 3DxWare (to catch errors while the driver runs) but in the same time this setting is kept in the Registry. I would like to ask you to install 3DxSoftware over your existing installation and check the file after this step. Please let me know about your findings.

Hi torniaccio
Please follow the next steps (sorry for the inconvenience):
1. Uninstall 3DxSoftware from the Add or Remove Programs (ARP) panel and reboot the computer;
2. Download the web-install executable (3DxSoftware_vx-x-x.exe) from the 3Dconnexion web site and copy it to an empty folder (say, C:\temp);
3. From a Command Prompt, change to the folder where 3DxSoftware is saved and execute the following command:
4. Note the the option /logpath needs to point to the folder where the log files are to be created;
5. Proceed with the installation until you get to the "Setup Type" panel: select "Custom" and unselect all products except for 3DxWare and Picture Viewer
The generated log file is which our development needs to determine what could cause a problem while installing, please send it to the address you know.

Hi torniaccio,
We're following this question on the separate topic created you created. See here.I've something to say about some stains that are on the steel basement.
Hi torniaccio
I got your log files and would need some registry keys a second time to compare the old once with the new keys. So please send me the 4 files
(3Dconnexion_2.txt, shimgxx_2.txt, InprocServer_2.txt", CurrentUser_2.txt) which will be produced by command lines.
To produce these files open a Dos Shell, go to a folder where you have write permissions and execute following 4 commandlines each after the other:
"reg export HKLM\Software\3Dconnexion 3Dconnexion_2.txt"
"reg export HKCR\Applications\shimgxx.dll shimgxx_2.txt"
"reg export HKCR\CLSID\{50F16B26-467E-11D1-8271-00C04FC3183B} InprocServer_2.txt"
"reg export HKCU\Software\Classes\Applications CurrentUser_2.txt"
Please give me a note when you have sent the files.
thanks, ciao
