SpacePilot Pro and SolidWorks 2016 - She No Work!
Hope that's an attention grabber.
Hi all, This is my second post to this forum. Usually I don't join them because I can usually fix an issue with some trouble shooting skills. Well all resources exhausted, I've come here for any and all help.
My tried and true SpacePilot Pro has worked like a champ. That said I finally updated my SW 2015 SP 5.0 to SW 2016 SP 2.0. The pilot worked flawlessly on 2015 but on 2016 it's DOA.
So I uninstalled, followed the cleanup rename post. Deleted folders and cleared the registery.......so here it comes.
Went to re-install the 3DConnexion software and boom....the best message a person can get "The Process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process" screen pops up.
Last time I saw this with SW a few versions ago I just blew by all the prompts and I was golden. Did the same again with this version and boom...nothing. Doesn't work. This time after cleaning everything up still doesn't work. Personally I think a great product is being hampered by the software used to run it, but that's for another thread.
I'm here for solutions and hope someone out there has this demon slayed....Help?

Well I got the software installed by bypassing all the .msi errors but now when I launch the software there are no Solidworks profiles to customize. This software is horrible.
Re: SpacePilot Pro and SolidWorks 2016 - She No Work!
Hello ctrev21,
I apologize that you encounter problems with our driver software. Can you explain what you mean with "there are no profiles to customize"?
Which version of the driver do you have installed?
Do you see the addin in SolidWorks? See "Tools -> Add-ins... -> Other Add-ins. You should have an entry "3Dcontrol". Can you see it?
If you have an assembly open and open the "Buttons" window from the 3Dconnexion properties - does it say "SolidWorks - Assembly"? Or just "SolidWorks"?

Ok. So you still have problems to install the driver and the plugin.
Which version of the 3Dconnexion driver have you had installed previously?
If you still have the installation package please first install the version that had been installed before and then uninstall it. If this works well you can try to install the latest version. Which is 3DxWare 10.3.0 and can be downloaded here.

These are other two. I had 10.2 installed when 2015 was working.

I went back to the earliest software I could find that I downloaded. Installed with no issues but now joystick is not lit and when model is pulled up I cant rotate it. My assumption is that this version is not compatible with SW2016. I have yet to launch the software and run the update.

Re: SpacePilot Pro and SolidWorks 2016 - She No Work!
So, after installing version 3.18 (no issues) I launched solidworks and of course it did not work. The training application worked just fine within the software. I think this version only works up to SW2014.
I then took your suggestion and uninstalled it and did an install of version 10.3. All went fine except for the error below (see picture). 3D control no longer visible under add-ins and of course unit does not work.

Well, still no help. Can't understand why this is so difficult. I've talked to tech support here, I've asked for info on SolidWorks own Forum site and I even called my VAR. My VAR blew me away the most because he said he would not buy a 3D mouse from this company anymore because of poor support and not putting out new drivers for their products only after a few years of it being on the market. If I would have known this I would have saved my $400.00

Hi I am having a very similar issue with a Space Navigator and SW2016. I have no movement from the mouse and no response from the buttons in solidworks.
Specs:
Windows 7 64 bit
3DxWare 10 Version 10.3.0
SpaceNavigator fw 3.18
Software appears to have installed correctly. 3dx detects that solidworks is active. SW Addins show 3dx as being added.
Getting absolutely nothing from the mouse in soldiworks.
Can confirm the mouse works in other applications (Photoshop for example).
Long term user, never had any problems up to now. Please help!
Tom.
