Where are customized settings stored?

Post by firetoad »

When user settings are customized & saved, where and in which file are those settings stored? ...I have a user who lost his settings and would like to have them restored; but I do not know which file needs to be restored.
(IBM - AIX system)

Thanks for your help...

Hi firetoad,

the customized settings are stored in the user's $HOME directory in the subdirectory .3dxcfg. The name of the file is how the user named the configuration plus the extension .scg. The format is ascii.

If the driver starts it checks who is the logged-in user. When an application comes up the driver loads all appropriate configurations from the default folder (/etc/3DxWare) and from $HOME/.3dxcfg.
