SPP 3ds Max command names

Post by Artesiastp »

So when I installed the latest driver, my 3ds max config was completely blank. I deleted configs, reinstalled, and it was still blank.

In 'Customize Buttons' resetting the buttons restored their function. But they are still labeled weird. '3DSMAX 13' rather than 'Select and Rotate'.

This is starting to get on my nerves. Too much time just trying to get my SpacePilot Pro back to it's former status.

this never occurred to me, this seems to be a problem with the registry. I would do the following (but do it at your own risk):

1. stop 3dsmax and 3DxWare

2. run regedit, and navigate to the following key

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\3Dconnexion\3DxStudio

3. rename this key to 3DxStudio.bak

4. reinstall the driver

This should create a new key with the correct default mapping.

Tried it, no luck.

It's "functional" but annoying anyways.

3dconnexion? any thoughts?

You are not by any chance running the 3dxware driver as administrator and 3ds max as a different user?

It looks like the synchronization between 3ds Max and 3DxWare isn't working for some reason.
What you could try is a sort of reset on the 3dxware user config data:

Stop 3dxware and 3ds Max

In the registry delete
\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\3Dconnexion
you may want to export it first

Also delete %AppData%\3dconnexion (or rename it)

This puts the settings for the current user back into the state after a fresh install.

Start 3dxWare and 3ds Max as the current user.

BTW Which OS, 3dxSoftware and 3ds Max versions are you using?

I'll try that when I get home

I'm running Windows 7 64 bit, 3.12.2 and 3ds max 2011 64bit
