Error: Could not open USB port

Post by ManDay »

Ubuntu 10.04 LTS, installed the driver from the sh-script, no installation to inittab. HAL reports the SpaceNavigator being registered to /dev/input/event5 where I get a proper response with xxd.

Yet, running

Code: Select all

# /etc/3DxWare/daemon/3dxsrv -d /dev/input/event5
[2010-07-17 11:43:51] Error: Could not open port /dev/input/event5 or no supported device found! Exiting!
produces an error. Am I doing something wrong?

Hmm ... another post from an ubuntu 10.04 user about HAL?? Here they say HAL was completely removed from ubuntu 10.04. :?

Try
  • # /etc/3DxWare/daemon/3dxsrv -d usb
The driver will search through all usb ports for a known 3D mouse.[/list]
