Lag in AutoCAD 2007

Post by Aoum »

Hello 3D friends,

I have been having a bit of an irritating problem. I use my SpaceExplorer in a number of CAD software packages including Inventor, AutoCAD, SolidEdgeST, Solidworks, and Surfcam Velocity III.

I have recently re imaged my computer as a restorative measure. Prior to this, the pan and zoom functionality of my mouse in AutoCAD 2007 was incredibly smooth. After the reimage my SpaceExplorer has been lagging when you pan or zoom. This problem only seems to affect AutoCAD since I haven't had any problems with the other software. I have messed with all of the settings for AutoCAD in the 3DConnexion Control Panel to no avail. Also, when the control panel is active in front of my AutoCAD window my SpaceExplorer Pans and zooms in the background almost as if there were no problem. As soon as the control panel is closed the lag comes back and at times renders the SpaceExplorer unusable.

I would appreciate it very much if someone could help me out with this.

Best Regards,
Aoum

Dear Aoum,

What operating system are you working with?

What release version of the 3DxSoftware Suite do you have installed?
(3Dconnexion Control Panel, Help, About)

Sincerely,
Bryan g.

Dear Aoum,
You may need to load an .arx file.

In AutoCAD 2007

1. Switch out of 2D mode.

2. From the 'Assist Menu' (or Tools Menu),
Choose 'Load Applications Item',
In the '3DxConnexion' directory Select 'acad3dx17.arx'

Sincerely,
Bryan

Hello Bryan,

I do not have that .arx file. Could you tell me where to find it?

Hi Aoum,

the 3dxautocad.arx files should be copied by the installation procedure to your AutoCAD root directory. If this is not the case you can find it at C:\Program Files\3Dconnexion\3Dconnexion 3DxSoftware\3DxAutoCAD2007 or corresponding to your AutoCAD version ...\3DxAutoCAD2008, ...\3DxAutoCAD2009or ...\3DxAutoCAD2010.

It might help as well if you delete all existing user specific configuration files. See here how to locate them.

Greetings uludwig,

I have always had 3dxautocad.arx loading automatically when AutoCAD starts. The .arx file that Bryan speaks of does not match the .arx file that you and I seem to have; he says to use acad3dx17.arx. Do I have the correct version? Is there a download for it?
