The 5.8.2 driver was made to run on WIn XP, 2000 only.
No driver will be made to run Serial devices on XP64 or Vista.

No the device will still be recognized as a serial device and the driver 3-7-16 does not work with the Serial devices.

3Dconnexion software for 3D mice with a serial port connector (RS-232) is available only on:

Windows 2000 SP4
Windows XP RTM and all service packs (32-bit only)

Windows XP Professional

Here is the link to the knowledgebase regarding discontinued devices:

http://www.3dconnexion.eu/support/kb/?V ... EntryID=40

Serial driver support ended back in December of 2006.

I am trying to use a USB version of the Navigator PE on Win X64. It doesn't work with Solidworks 2009 x64. Why isn't there better driver support for that program?

Sir,

You can only use the SpaceNavigator PE driver with usb devices. Serial devices will not funtion with that driver because it is USB ONLY!

So when is a driver going to be available for XP64 or Vista or Windows 7? I can't image that there hasn't been one written already. :? :x

Vista 64, SolidWorks 2009 64 bit

Post by pggirvin »

Hi,
I am trying to use my Space Navigator under Vista 64, in SolidWorks 2009; I have reloaded the drivers (and rebooted, too, Fred) and the 3DXWare just refuses to load.
I am also running a Wacom tablet and a bluetooth mouse.

Any idea why the hardware is AWOL?

thanks.

Make sure you have the Device plugged directly into a USB port on the pc or laptop.
Donot use a hub.

Try unplugging the device.
Hold down the 1,2 button
while holding them down
plug in the device
wait 15 seconds and release
Now try to open the 3dxware control panel
If it open the device is recognized.
next open Solidworks

OK, I followed those steps and still it doesn't start.

The SpaceNavigator is plugged directly into the PC USB port, I have the most current drivers from the website installed, I pressed the keys, inserted, waited, released keys, and ... nothing.

Do you have another pc to test it on see if it works.
If so check and make sure your Antivirus software isnt scanning USB ports.
Otherwise if it still doesnt work contact Tech support to do a RMA.

Hi Patrick,

please give this a try: unplug the Wacom tablet and de-activate the driver software for the tablet. if possible reboot. Then see if the os finds the device.

Can you see it in the device manager (see here)?
