Using Serial Space Explorer in Windows

Is there any way to use the Serial version of the space explorer mouse in Windows? I can connect it to the serial port on my machine and monitor the data that comes across, the only problem is that I don't see any data being sent when I turn the knob. I can press any button on the device and see data being sent through the serial port just nothing from the knob. Any Suggestions?

SpaceExplorer Serial is designed for supporting UNIX/Linux, not Windows or MAC OS X.

Yes I realize that but was asking for some real help not just someone with no real answer so they basically throw their hands up and just post that it is not supported.
