SpaceNavigator USB drivers not working as intended

Bought an old SpaceNavigator but the latest driver for it doesnt really work.

Settings for speed and macros arnt saved.

I know its discontinued but why doesnt it work?

The SpaceNavigator should work fine with v. 10.8.14.

You may be looking at some other problem, not necessarily related to the device type.
