Is the HP Space Navigator DE actually an SE or PE?

Post by kojack »

There's a bunch of online stores which are selling something called "HP 3DConnexion Space Navigator Input DE" (product number GY407PA).

HP's web site has no info.

Does the personal or standard license apply to this rebranded device? How about support and drivers?

Hi kojack,
HP's web site has no info.
Then it does not seem to be an HP product. Perhaps this is all a simple mistake in an on-line catalogue?

The HP website does have info on the HP Space Pilot: http://www.hp.com/sbso/product/workstat ... R1002_USEN
which is just the regular 3DConnexion Space Pilot with a HP logo on the top.
It's odd that they have that one (it's also an option when custom designing certain HP workstations online) but no mention of the Navigator, despite so many stores apparently having them. Either it's discontinued, extremely new, or they just forgot about it.

The price of the HP Space Navigator Input DE ranges from $57 to $199 (au) depending on the store. So that doesn't help indicate which license it might be.

Hi kojack,

We're trying to track this down but seems to have been a mistake by a distributor. Look at the name: the "Input DE" end of it is cropped text. It should be "Input Device".

Further to this matter. The "DE" label is confirmed to be a mistake.

In some regions, HP is carrying the SpaceNavigator SE (Standard Edition) in their catalogue but not as an HP product.

The device is a 3Dconnexion -branded SpaceNavigator and technical support is available under the SE terms.

Thanks for confirming what it really is.
