4000FLX, X64, and Rhino

Post by gridsleep »

For anyone looking for a superb 3D modeling package that works with the serial port 4000FLX, Rhino 4.0 (www.rhino3d.com) is what you are looking for. I have it loaded into an AMD X64 dual core running XP Pro 64-bit, with the Spaceball 2.8.2 drivers. Rhino responds perfectly, unlike every other 3D program package I have tested. It does take a little getting used to, like learning to ride a bicycle for the first time, but boy, what a ride. Rhino is a bit more expensive than some (Blender for instance, which is free) or Caligari, but it lets you use your antique Spaceball with no fuss. So, the money you saved buying one of those refurbished or off lease Spaceballs can be put toward a better, more expensive 3D package. Especially if you are running Windows XP 64.
