der.exe'
Shortname = 'C:\PROGRA~1\BLENDE~1\NDOF_3~1\BLENDE~1\blender.exe'
Compiled with Python version 2.5.
Checking for installed Python... got it!
ndof manager
plugin path=C:\PROGRA~1\BLENDE~1\NDOF_3~1\BLENDE~1\plugins\3DxNdofBlender.plug;

mobed, Iqwar:
if the ndofLib is 0, it means the plugin has not been loaded properly, most likely it's not in the right location. Verify you have a folder exactly named "plugins" right next to the blender.exe program. The plugin should be inside that folder.

To be even more clear, the path you see there ("plugin path=C:\....") is the full path that Blender is expecting to find the plugin at. Verify the plugin is actually there and named the same.

Verify the driver is the latest and that it's running. (mobed, you probably already did...) As a smoke test, verify the device is actually working with other apps (google earth, sketchup, the demos, etc)

Other than that, I will make a new build with more debugging info because apparently this problem is encountered quite a few times now.

Hi ettore,

I proofed the location of the plugin with "tree" an it seams that the plugin is placed correct.
As you said, I tested the SpaceNavigator with my ProE Student Edition (because I'm a student) an it works very fine. :D I Followed the project for blender for a few weeks und must say thank you for the great work. :D

Here is the output of tree, were you can see the location of the plugin und the exe-File. I Louded it as a zip file from BlenderBuilds.com from the link with the label "3DConnexion" an the zip-name "ndof_20070802_orig.zip"

Code: Select all

BTW, the tree looks fine and the plugin is placed correctly.

The zip files named 3Dconnexion for Windows lack some libraries (*). I recommend you download one of the other Windows builds and try again. Don't forget to re-copy the plugin.

(*)I'll ask Rui of blenderbuilds to remove them since they are not needed anymore now.

Same problem I'm getting with my Spaceball5000 USB on WindowsXP.

Plugin is in correct directory but get ndofLib=00000000, works fine with all my other applications.

If I start this version of blender, I get this output on the console

Code: Select all

Compiled with Python version 2.5.
Checking for installed Python... got it!
ndof manager
Unfortunately the device seams not to work in blender.

In the bottom line of the 3D-View-Window in blender it shows mit a text with "6dof : turntable".

I hope I could give you the informations you need.

mobed, try this plugin build:
http://cubelogic.org/blender/builds/200 ... debug/win/

no changes, just a few printouts in the console. Report the console output here. If that doesn't help I'll make new full blender builds.

Hi,

Installed the new plugin with debug info and I get no extra information in the Blender console. Still doesn't work with my Spaceball 5000 USB but unlike mobed Button 1 and 2 don't do anything either :(

I've seen a few comments like this on various Blender forums which is unfortunate.

If ndofmanager is the last output in the console, then the plugin cannot be loaded, could you please check if the folder is at the right place, the name of the plugin is correct and if there is read/write access for the user to the folder and the plugin?
