3DxWare 10.1 not working with 3Ds Max Design 2013

Post by harnstein »

Hey-

I decided to split the post I made two days ago about importing / exporting profiles to this specific one, hoping to find a solution better.

Since updating to the latest driver to get SU 2013 support my Spacenavigator is not working anymore in 3Ds Max.

I remember if 3Ds was running in adminitrator mode it woulnd't- but running in both modes does not help.

I really need this to work, it's a pain in th a** without it.

Thanks for any help.

Well..

found a solution in another thread following the FAQ 1100.

And then happend what I was fearing: all profiles are gone.

I have set up my mouse a little specific (axis rotated 90° and others) and I cant go through all that again.

So this leads me again to my previous post: how to import / export profile files (*.xml) with the actual version..

Some applications save the profile to the registry.
I believe this is what you were looking for.

Export 3DsMax Settings:

A) Exit 3ds Max
B) Stop 3DxWare driver
C) Open the registry and navigate to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\3Dconnexion\3DxStudio

D) Right-click on "3DxStudio", select "Export" (save the file)
E) Exit all applications on the target machine (including 3DxWare driver) and rename in the registry:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\3Dconnexion\3DxStudio
to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\3Dconnexion\3DxStudio.bak
Then double click on the exported file, start your 3DxWare driver and Max on the target machine.

Hey.

Tried to follow the proposal but couldnt get the point yet.

I have exported the profiles of all neccessary programs (photoshop, mudbox, 3Ds, SU) into *.xml files before updating to the current version.
How should exporting the registry get me to import those profile files?

After updating I followed the FAQ 1100 to get 3Ds to work with the 3D mouse again (making backups of the existing registry entries)

Actually the update already changed all registry entries if there where some related to the existing profiles.

The exported registry entry you (Fred) proposed dont contain any software specific data.

If I would downgrade to the 3DxWare I had before (if I can get it somewhere on the internet at all)- I then should export registry data??

That would, softly said, be sh**.

Still hoping to find a solution which is more "comfortable- there should be some as I think Im not the only one with this issue..

*hopeing*

Well, hm..

Please mark this as solved.

I have no idea how or why- I made some changes to the %appdata% 3DxWare\Cfg folder forth and back, adding old *.xml files. Didnt work. Reverted all changes because the was no succes (renamed cfg folder with cfg-bak before making changes) and for no (or some I dont see) reason it works.

Had to set all axis in SU to revert but seems like the profile I had before is used.

3Ds is using the same profile as before.

Havent checked mudbox and PS yet.

Guess I have to take another look when setting up the computer again one day.. :?
