Profiles switching and Inventor

Post by sigh »

Since the autoprofile switch thing sucks (mainly in Inventor) i am wondering if there is a way to lock one profile so it dosnt change between programs.
I want the same profile in every software im using.

Is this possible?

No its not possible.
The profiles are all application specific. Only applications that added support without using our SDK use the default button mapping profile. Those applications require you to create macros and map buttons then save the file using the application name so it uses those settings the next time you open it.

What is the issue your having in Inventor switching profile?
Which driver are you using and what device?

Well i tried to use the save as method for profiles and every time i for example close a file a prompt tells me to save the profile.
If i set it to autosave it overwrites my profile with the previous.
if i change the default profile here "C:\Program Files\3Dconnexion\3Dconnexion 3DxSoftware\3DxWare64\en_us\profiles\default" it seams to work better.
Some apps won’t work until i change the default settings for all the languages.

I have the latest driver and space explorer usb

Driver 3.17.8
Auto should be enabled. If you map in the wrong area it gets overwritten the next time you start Inventor

Restore the defaults in Inventor, by opening the 3DControl panel (double click on the 3Dicon in the system tray, or go to Start, all Programs, 3Dconnexion, 3DConnexion Control Panel)
Click on Options restore defaults.
Click OK
Now push the Panel button on the Space Explorer.
This should bring up the popup menu
Click Customize buttons
This is where you should map the buttons and this will save the profile correctly.
