Spacenavigator makes boot hang

Post by IN-WondeR »

I have a spacenavigator connected to my system, but I have found out, if it's connected during startup, then the BIOS locks/hangs for about a minute when booting the computer.

is there a way to fix this issue? Either with a firmware update for the space navigator, or is it a BIOS update for the MB that's nessecary?

Dear IN-WondeR,

What is your operating system?
Which 3DxSoftware release version do you have installed?
What computer, motherboard and bios do you have?

Sincerely,
Bryan

Thank you for that.

The new firmware worked like a charm. Now my boot is as fast as it started out to be. :)

Great, thank you for your help Uta... :)

We have a similar issue at my workplace. With the SpaceMouse Pro plugged in, the BIOS takes more than a minute. Without it plugged in, it takes a couple of seconds. Is this an issue with the computer or an issue with the SM?

Release: 3.17.4
Driver: 6.17.4
Firmware: 4.34

HP z620 Win 7 x64 SP 1

Hi wooska,
We have a similar issue at my workplace. With the SpaceMouse Pro plugged in, the BIOS takes more than a minute. Without it plugged in, it takes a couple of seconds. Is this an issue with the computer or an issue with the SM?
We spent time investigating this issue a few months back. On some systems, the BIOS will send an invalid command/request to the device causing the boot delay.

We have changed the SpaceMouse firmware to ignore the request at that point and this seems to be a very effective workaround.

If you're affected by the problem, please get in touch with our technical support team. Contact details are available from here. The support team is there to assist with this issue.

You may also want to consider upgrading the BIOS of your system since that is where the problem is likely to be.

I've got a similar behaviour on my HP Elite 7500 running Windows 8. When my SpaceMouse Pro is connected when the computer is turned on, it hangs at startup. If I disconnect the SM the computer immediately resumes and starts up. The leaves me with the problem, that I can't reboot/turn on my machine before disconnecting the SM.

Information about the SpaceMouse Pro:

Release Version: 3.17.6
Driver version: 6.17.6
Firmware version: 4.34

Any advice is much appreciated!

Hello all.

I've tried to contact them last saturday (22th april) and until now I had no answer.

Any contact from support, even a single automatic message saying that they received my message they sent me.

The support option for this kind of problem still works?
