AutoCad Arch Deck 2004 Driver

Post by KevinC »

Has anyone figured out how to get the Navigator to work with Autocad 2004 Arch Desktop? I tried all of the available drivers with no luck.

AutoCad Arch Deck 2004 Driver

Post by agoenczi »

Hi KevinC

Have you installed the driver with administrator privileges?

Did you install the plug-in for 3DxAutoCAD pre-2007 from our archive?

Did you get a window with the 3Dconnexion logo after you installed the driver?

I am logged in as the administrator on the machine.

I have the 3DxSoftwarePE_v3-0-9.exe driver installed

In addition I have installed the pre-2007 AutoCAD plug-in from the website called 3DxAutoCAD16_v3-2-9_win32.exe

I did not get a 3dconnexion window after installing. The installer says that the install is completed and when I click the finish button the window closes. Then when I open autocad I don't see a 3dconnexion box and the controller has no effect on the program.

It works for me in ADT 2004 using the 3DxAutoCAD pre-2007 driver.

Go to the 3D Connexion Support/Driver page, select:
1. Product in 1st column
2. Archive (Legacy Software) in the 2nd column
3. Autocad (pre 2007)

Type: "menuload" in the command line, ENTER.
Does "ACAD3DX" appear in the Menu Groups list? If it does, highlight it & click LOAD.

ok, I went into menuload, I did not see the menu, so went the the 3dconnexion folder and found the folder with the mns file and tried that, I did see a menu bar pop up on screen. When I close the window the new menubar dissapears. Any Ideas? I was thinking maybe I need to move the files to a diffrent folder? But not sure which one.

Thanks for the help.

The 3D Connexion Add-in for Autocad Folder has 5 items:
acad3dx15.arx
acad3dx16.arx
acad3dx.mns
acad3dx.dll
acad3dx.chm (help file)

The locations of these items in ADT 2004:

Main ADT Folder:
acad3dx15.arx
acad3dx16.arx

Support Folder:
acad3dx.mns
acad3dx.dll

Help Folder:
acad3dx.chm

I feel like I am getting close. The problem I have now is that once I load the menu I can see it pop up, but when I close the dialog box the menu is unloaded and it goes away.

Are you able to get any response from the Navigator? In my case, even if I close the dialog, it still works. If I open the 3D Connexion Control Panel, Autocad is shown in the drop down window at the top. Adjustments here control the sensitivity in ADT.

No, I don't get any response from the device, and the control panel is not showing anything autocad related. I think this has something to do with the fact that it unloaded the menu right after I load it.
This is the message on the command line I get when I close menu load

This is what I am doing on the command line:

Command: MENULOAD
Menu loaded successfully. MENUGROUP: ACAD3DX

***now when I close the menload dialog box this is what happens automaticly on the command line***

Command: _.menuunload
Enter the name of a MENUGROUP to unload:ACAD3DX
Menu unloaded successfully. MENUGROUP: ACAD3DX

Not sure how to get it to stick and stay loaded.

I'm stumped! Obvious questions:

1. Is the LOAD grayed out before you close the dialog?
2. When you exit the dialog, has the UNLOAD button been clicked?

Try exiting the dialog by hitting the escape button on the keyboard.

Tried using esc, same thing. Question, in the other tab "Menu Bar" vrs "Menu Groups" are there any options to insert a menu into the menu bar? On mine there are no options I just see ACAD 3DX in the Menue group drop down at the top. and both of the two lists at the bottom are empty.

Same here, the list is blank.

The only thing I can think of is to delete the files, download a fresh copy & try again.

Just tried redownloading the files and same problem. I think it might be something with that driver file. Do you know what version of the pre 2007 driver you are running?

The Configuration window in ADT shows:
3D connexion Add-In for AutoCAD
V3.2.8 (R16)

The .arx, .dll & .mns files show a creation date of May 08, 2006.
I downloaded them Dec 21, 2006

Hi KevinC

Please make sure the add-in (called acad3dx.arx) is available in the folder, which contains also acad.exe. If it is, check that a filed called acad.rx is also available in the same folder, this file have to contain only one line with the content acad3dx.arx with full path.

Start AutoCAD and navigate some positions above immediately after you started it, the content of this lines will show you some messages; check if they contain any relevant messages to acad3dx.
