SpaceNavigator verses SpaceNavigator for Notebooks

Post by muddiman »

Does the SpaceNavigator and SpaceNavigator for Notebooks use the same controller puck? It looks like the only difference is the base size.

SpaceNavigator for Notebooks

Post by Bryan »

Dear muddiman,

The SpaceNavigator for Notebooks has smaller footprint, weights about half as much, comes with a travel case, but you have the same detailed navigation control over your models.

Sincerely,
Bryan

Thanks Bryan, I guess I need to reword my question. Does the SpaceNavigator for Note Books use the exact same puck (The black six-axis puck you use input control-Not the base) as is used in the SpaceNavigator? Is the puck the same physical piece of hard used for both controllers? It looks like from the images the SpaceNavigator for Note books uses a slightly different hardware puck. I am interested in using the puck only for a hardware application.

Cap size on the Navigator FN is slightly smaller than the Navigator

Navigator FN:
•3Dconnexion patented six-degrees-of-freedom (6DoF) technology
•Two Standard 3D Mouse Keys (Fit / Menu)
•Dimensions (LxWxH): 68mm x 68mm x 46mm / 2.7” x 2.7” x 1.8”
•Weight: 250g / 0.55lb

Navigator:
•3Dconnexion patented six-degrees-of-freedom (6DoF) technology
•Two Standard 3D Mouse Keys (Fit / Menu)
•Dimensions (LxWxH): 78mm x 78mm x 53mm / 3.1” x 3.1” x 2.1”
•Weight: 479g / 1.06lb

The same driver works for both devices.
