SpacePilot buttons do not work propperly in I-DEAS 12m3

Post by mattias_n »

Hello

If i use the standard profile for i-deas and have a shaded model and click on button 4 the model turns in to line mode butt if i pick button 3 to revert to shaded mode it doesn't work. All other buttons seems work ok.

I have attached a log file

Hi mattias_n,

Those buttons run keyboard macros (they do the same thing you do when you type in the commands on the keyboard). Since we don't have a Swedish configuration file, the driver is defaulting to the English macros. It could be that the English macros don't work in the Swedish version of I-DEAS, or that they are not correct for your version of I-DEAS.

Please open the macro editor by selecting Custom Functions in the Button Configuration tab of the 3DxWare GUI. Edit the shade macro to see if it is doing the same thing that you have to do on the keyboard. Change it if required.

Please report back here so others will know that it may have to be changed.

Thanks.

Hello

There is no swedish version of I-DEAS so I'm using the english version.
I'm using I-DEAS 12m3 on swedish Win XP SP2.

To get shaded hardware in I-DEAS I have to add this in the macro editor:

/do so; ; dt shh appl canc RETURN

This is a pain because i can't copy this from the programfile I have to create in I-DEAS to get the command. I-DEAS have very few keyboard accelerators.

It would be nice if could get a standard profile that works from UGS because this will give new users a chance to enjoy the 3d-controller. I have users that think the controller is use less because the buttons don't work.

I installed the new driver 3.1.8 today and uninstalled the old one first.
All the modifications i have made in my own profile was removed and my profile looked like the one provided by the driver so I had to recreate every thing again. Is this normal behavior?

Regards

Hi mattias_n,

The installation of the new driver will not remove your saved configurations. You may though have to go into the driver GUI and reselect your saved configuration.

You should be able to share your configurations with your users. They are just files. They can be copied around.

Hmmm. That might be possible in the following scenario:

A) Load the default configuration, make some change.
B) Those changes get auto-saved under "IDEAS-username"
C) Reload the default profile for any reason, say with the config button, and make some change. It will probably auto-save your new most recent changes over the top of your old changes.

It is simple to avoid this: just name your configuration yourself, don't rely on auto-saving it under IDEAS-username.

Sorry for all the trouble.
