Pan-UpDown "almost" frozen with latest drivers

Post by boumay »

Hi all,

I updated to I'm now in 3dsmax 2020 and the latest driver is driving me nuts.

The pan and up-down axis, in camera/perspective viewport(s), is so slow, compared to other axis, it is almost frozen, and almost doesn't react, even after cranking up the speed. At first I thought it was not working and/or stopped functioning after a few minutes of use.

Works normally in orthographic.

I really hope you could help me on this one, it makes the device such a pain to use, after it was the most useful one.

Thank you for your support.

Ok, so I tried to roll back to the oldest version supporting 3dsmax 2020, which is 10-6

But now the device buttons can't be configured and the driver crash/stop when I tried to assign custom keys.

PS: With 10-6, the device was working perfectly as far as the axes are concerned. Pan/UpDown was butter.

Just tried 10-6.3, and the problem returned, Pan Up/Down axes are behaving weirdly.
What did change in the engine?
It's working fine in all versions prior to 10-6.3.

One could say that I crank up axes sensitivity, but it improves little, so much so that it is still very slow and a pain to navigate, and when I exit a perspective/cameras view, it's too fast and unusable in the other viewports.

There's some changes to the 3DxMaya64.msi plugin package in the 3DxWare v10.6.4 installer.

I'm on 3dsmax 2020.
What's strange is the drastic change in behavior from 10-6.0 to the next version 10-6.3
And the weird is that it is only happening in perspective/camera view, not ortho or other front/left/top/etc
10-6.0 works normally in every aspect.

I was able to fix the crashing with 10-6.0, so, so far so good now.
Just in time, because I was almost going to loose my device.

I'd suggest you start a technical support at TechSupport to propagate the problem you encountered over the use of 3ds MAX 2020 to 3Dconnexion support personnel to investigate the problem, and get possible bug fix, a technical support has the highest priority over any forum post.
