3DxService.exe crashed due to 2 SME plugged in to a PC

Post by luping » Sun Jul 28, 2019 2:01 am

Today I tested two SpaceMouse Enterprise on the same PC, the first time when the second SME is plugged in to a new USB port, the 3Dconnexion 3DxWare tray icon just disappeared and the 3DxService.exe process crashed and a dump is created in the system temp folder. I tried to restart the 3DxWare service by clicking shortcut 'Start 3DxWare' in the Start Menu app list, but the 3DxService.exe crashed again. There is a CadMouse plugged in to a USB port at the same time. I tried several times, 3DxService.exe all crashed, so I think it's a bug.

I know such occasion with 2 SME devices plugged in to a PC is rare, but please add support to the 3DxWare to handle more than 1 SME device at the same time.

Here are the two 3DxService.exe dump files zipped by 7-ZIP from the temp folder, uploaded to WeTransfer, for analysis:

After updating to 3DxWare version 10.6.2 x64, the 3DxService.exe process crash problem is gone. However only one LCD panel of the two SpaceMouse Enterprise displays contents, though all keys of the two devices work as normal.

I don't think it is related, but note that driver 10.6.2 was withdrawn. Customer support told me that they were aware of driver instability and crashes on this version.

Well, in my case, 3DxWare version 10.6.0 did crashed on my PC. I just noticed that version 10.6.2 is nowhere to be seen from 3Dconnexion website's driver download page.
