Please check if the device is in the device manager. As I already mentioned you have to open the properties of the HID devices (Details -> Device Instance Id).

Let me know if you find the 3D mouse in the device manager.

Additionally I am interested in the log file of the 3DxWare (3dxsrv). Please open the registry and check if the key "LogLevel" in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\3Dconnexion\3DxWare is set to "ffffffff". If not please adapt it accordingly.
Hi Uta,

Checked in the Device Manager the SpaceNavigator does not exist in any of the HID devices.

With respect to the registry "LogLevel" does not exist within "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\3Dconnexion\3DxWare" only the following

(Default) REGSZ (value not set)
AutoSave REGSZ 1
Disable Beeps REGSZ 1
Disable LEDs REGSZ 0
Large Window X REGSZ 0
Large Window Y REGSZ 114
Linear SpaceMouse Data REGSZ 0
Nonlinear Factor REGSZ 1.700000
NumDevices REGSZ 1

Over to you,

Regards,

Terry

Add a new string value with the name
  • LogLevel
and the value
  • ffffffff
and restart the driver.

Terry,

the error from the 3DxWare.log shows that you have the same problem as another user in the forum. In his case it was the BitDefender Antivirus software that blocked the driver. See here for his post.

Hi Uta,

Made an exclusion path in BitDefender 2010 for the whole of the 3Dconnexions folder on 22 October but this did not work. Have, yet again, tried an unistall and install but to no avail. Log File follows:

8:25:0.953: UdCtl: Unable to open Any Device (-1) on USB.

As you see still the same.,

Yours frustratedly,

Hi Uta,

Tried that but did not work (also tried that before).

I think I have found answer. Using BitDefender Vulnerabilities Window installed Windows Critical Updates KB954708, KB961503 and KB2362765. SpaceNavigator then started working. Another Critical Update appeared KB971513 which I then installed and SpaceNavigator ceased to work. After uninstalling KB971513 SpaceNavigator then started.

As I said in an earlier post I thought that Windows Update was to blame and it seems that I was correct. Hope this is of help to anyone else that has the problem.

Thanks for your help in this matter. It was much appreciated.

Kind Regards,

Terry

(Hope this is the lasting answer :D )

Hi Terry,

 this is really weird. Thanks for the information. I don't remember of any case where the Windows updates caused the 3D mouse to stop working. I am glad you found out.

Enjoy! 8)

SpaceNavigator Stopped Again

Post by tacarr »

Hi Uta,

Back to the beginning. SpaceNavigator worked OK for a couple of days and then I installed a programme called FreeMind. Before doing so I created a Restore Point in case of problems.

SpaceNavigator ceased to work and so I uninstalled FreeMind and called the Restore Point to go back to happier time. Restore Point did not work and so I am, again, 3DMouseless. Tried reinstalling with BitDefender turned on and off completely, looked in Startup to see if anything did not look right and also tried Registry Cleanup using CCleaner (Computer restarts between all attempts). All to no avail.

Is it possible to reposition the 3Dconnexions in Startup so as it can be called before anything else?

The Log File is exactly the same as the one I sent you before.

:( :( :?

Hi Terry,

if the logfile is the same I recommend to check the Bitdefender settings again.

Hi Uta,

Tried that to no avail.

Installed a programme called "Startup Delayer" and worked through the Startup list.

When reboot after delaying

"C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\UpdateService\ISUSPM.exe" -scheduler

the blue light dazzled me and Space Navigator was alive again.

I have now disabled this and, hopefully, this will solve all.

Now I have complained about not having a plugin for Blender 2.54 (incorrigible) :)

Again thanks for you help. Much appreciated.
