Autodesk Revit

Does SpaceNavigator work with Autodesk Revit? As this program is growing fast, one expects a plug-in for it.
Can SpaceNavigator be used by any CAD program for some basic functions or do you always need the exact driver for the program?

Thanks.

Hi kimtieuphong,

Autodesk Revit supports our devices. See here the list of applications that support our 3D mouse devices.

3Dconnexion provides an SDK that can be used to implement support for the 3D mouse in a CAD application. Only some applications require a plugin. All plugins that are developed and maintained by 3Dconnexion directly are delivered and installed with our driver (if you do a default application). All other applications listed do not need a plugin and work with just our driver installed.

Revit supports 3dconnexion devices, however it’s not fully implemented. You cannot map native functions, such as: a wall, window, trim extents all, line, and so on to a button or radial menu button. In other words: you can’t find these functions using the 3dconnexion UI. What you can do is map them to a macro by looking up the keyboardshortcut per function (Press KS to access the shortcuts menu). I do suggest only using 4 way radial menus as otherwise you won’t be able to tell the difference between the buttons (8 identical macro icons).

Any progress on an improved integration ? An auto center tool would be great.
