Spacemouse Enterprise stops working

Post by drkieffer »

Spacemouse driver 10.5.6
Windows 8.1 64 bit
NX11.0.2
CADmouse on both workstations with the issue

Sometimes the spacemouse just quits working. Usually this is first thing in the morning when I log in, it lights up, but no motion control. Once I unplug, and plug in again, its fine. Occasionally it will do this after locking the computer.

This only seems to happen with the Enterprise, we have SpaceMouse Pro, and SpaceMouse Compact, with no issue.

Any thoughts?

Update, the other user that had a Spacemouse Pro previously, says it would occur with that as well.

Hi drkieffer,

we would need a log file of the driver to look into this. Would you please contact our support team? You would then get an email address where you can send a log file from a session where the issue happened.

I'll try to get a log file, but it is very unpredictable, as to when it will stop. Is there a way to leave log file capturing "on" all the time, until we get one?

The logging is active until you de-activate it.
The log file will be overwritten with a new once each time the driver starts. The old one will be copied to "3DxService.bak".

Finally captured a log file, just waiting for support to tell me where to send it.

Thanks.

Hi Dave,

did you verify if once the device stops working it's just the navigation that doesn't work or if the buttons aren't functional either? Does the LCD of the SpaceMouse Enterprise stay black or not? (If not what does it show?)

Is the device connected directly to your machine or is it connected through a USB hub (e.g. monitor)?

Navigation stops.

Unsure about the buttons, the screen remains lit. I notice it doesn't work in NX, which is my primary tool, so I suspect the NX icons are displayed, but will have to verify, and take note if the icons change, as I change the window focus with the CADmouse.

Plugged directly into the computer.

Is the device - once it stops working - still listed in the device manager?

Would the navigation work if you open the 3Dconnexion viewer? And the buttons in the viewer - do they work then?
