Wow. 2009 huh?
My company switched to Maya and I'm learning it now. My 3d mouse not working in the graph editor bugged me, so I did a google search for a fix.
Looks like that fix won't be coming any time soon

yes, I also agree, 2d mouse moving would be extremely beneficial to us maya users!
