I see the driver set on the website for
64 bit XP now. This just confirms
that my mind is going.... I think...

I'll try that download again.

I assume you work for 3d Connexion?

Great product.

Thanks again.

Thanks. We think the entire product line is pretty nice too.

Yes, all the moderators work for 3Dconnexion. Most of the developers directly answer questions from customers in the forum.

Thanks for contributing. We are always looking to make the products better for you (and your friends).

Not to beat this horse, but I asked
if I could order an Explorer to try out
as a productivity increase tool. I can
readily see several other power users,
here in our facility upgrading, as well.

I almost opted for the Pilot, but since
it's someone else's money, I settled
for the NAV. I am not disappointed.

Thanks again!

Hello,
My pan & zoom functions have reversed.
I have tried editing the data file back to
this, but I have had no luck getting it
to work.

Input please...

Same as this....

Thanks for the fast response.

Here is where I'm at. See my arrows out to right like this <-----...

[SPACEEXPLORER]
; Axis Mappings (XYZRUV is the default)
AXIS_MAP_HRZ_DFLT = "XYZRUV"
AXIS_MAP_VRT_DFLT = "XZyRVu"

AXIS_MAP_HRZ_USER = "XYZRUV" <------
AXIS_MAP_VRT_USER = "XZyRVu" <------

Do I need to edit both of these lines?
I am not using any axis reversals.

This is what I have tried a couple of times, so
far...

AXIS_MAP_HRZ_USER = "XYZVUR"

It seems pretty straight forward, but no luck yet.

Thanks again!

It could be that you are not editing the file that the driver is using. Hover over the 3Dx systray icon, while your application is running. It will tell you which file is being used.

It appears to me that I am in the correct file.

Does there need to be multiple scg files,
for the same app, if I'm the only one on
this computer?

I just corrected it again & the scg file
is updated.

How do implement the change to
get the update to Inventor?

How do these change like this?
Is it just one of those planetary
alignment issues?

Thanks again!

The scg file that is used by the driver when the application is in focus is saved in the registry (HKCU/Software\3Dconnexion\3dxware\applications. This is the information that is shown in the systray.

Editing scg files manually isn't officially supported. Let's call it an "undocumented feature". You are on your own. You might be fighting with the driver.

I could imagine a few things going wrong.

1) You may be editing the file manually while the driver is still using it. Then the driver overwrites your changes when it writes its state out when you change to a different application. Make sure to stop the driver and your app when making changes.

2) The registry entries may get changed inadvertantly.

3) A new installation may overwrite previous files.

4) Some apps ignore what is in the scg file.

5) A change of user will use a different HKCU, and thus not know about your changes.

To make your same changes to Inventor, make some change to the default Inventor settings, then change the userXX scg file it writes out (in %APPDATA%).

Works for Rhino

Post by NikFromNYC »

It failed when I edited user.scg by typing %appdata% into the Start menu search box to find the proper folder.

However, it worked fine when I searched for any.scg and edited the one in an en_us folder.

The line involved appears several times, so indeed one must find the one under the actual product being used (Navigator in my case). Then I swapped the R and U in the value for AXIS_MAP_HRZ_USER.

Wow!!! Intuitive use instead of something I have to learn each time I start to design a new product after taking a break from designing.

I have to thank customer service for pointing me to this thread. I'd have never ran into it had they ignored my e-mail.

We have released 3DxWare 10 open beta.

This release includes keyboard, mouse and joystick emulation.

It also makes it easier to swap axes around.

Please try it out and let us know what you think. There is a new 3DxWare 10 Beta Forum for discussion.

I'm locking this thread so users who get informed about changes to the thread won't miss this announcement. Feel free to start a new thread to continue this discussion, if you wish.
