Solidworks Rotation Center

Post by reswob »

How do you change the Rotation Center options for Solidworks?? The only option I see in the 3DConnexion menu is a checkbox for "Auto". Unfortunately, checking or unchecking this box does exactly the same thing: the model rotates around the center.

I need to change this setting so rotation using the SpaceMouse works just like it does for the regular mouse: model/assembly rotates around the part/edge/face/vertex closest to the cursor.

Hi reswob,

this is from our documentation (help file):
Rotation Center

Auto sets the center of rotation dynamically. When the complete model is in view, the center of volume of the whole model is used as rotation point. When you move closer, the center of rotation will be set on an object close to your center of the view. You can also set the Rotation Center manually using "CTRL + middle mouse button".
Does this help?

Hello mhejjas,

the functions to set the center of rotation to a point or to an axis are still available, but only as a button function. You can map this to one of the buttons of your 3D mouse. Or create a radial menu with this functions.
