Trouble Setting up SpacePilot for Blender

I recently installed Blender 2.45, the current build, and I am having problems getting my SpacePilot to work with this software. The 3D Connexion instructions seem outdated (they refer to a plugin file structure that is a bit different than the one in Blender 2.45), so maybe there are some compatibility issues. Has anyone else had any success getting this to work?
