Wildfire 3 Menu Delay
I'm experiencing a 5 to 10 second delay with the WF3 M040 GUI using the Spaceball 5000 drivers. It occurs once a file has been opened. If the driver is uninstalled the problem disappears. The drivers tried are: 3.4.2, 3.0.9, 2.8.2, 2.8.1 If there are any suggestions they would be very appreciated.

agoenczi,
Hello.
Good question. I would only use the Spaceball with Pro/Engineer. If the plug-in, as its name implies, is an interface somehow with MS Office or is some other application interface I would probably not use it. I'm executing the standard install of the 3Dx driver so whether this plug-in is installed I am not sure. If you need more info please let me know and I will reinstall the 3.4.2 driver.
Thank you for your interest.

Hi bweig
Please specify which 3DxSoftware you have installed. If you have a new version (3.x.x) is very unlikely that the 3DxOffice is installed, because is it still available to download from our driver download page but one has to install it separately.
I would propose you to remove all 3DxSoftware components except the driver (3DxSoftware). How to remove the components I just described here.

Here is one more thing to try.
Is your Firewall enabled?
If so go and create a firewall exception rule for 3dxsrv.exe
right click on your Local Area connection click on properties
choose advanced
exceptions
browse to C:\Program Files\3Dconnexion\3Dconnexion 3DxSoftware\3DxWare
choose 3dxsrv.exe
If your running any other type of firewall program using norton etc
you can do the same step.

The driver does have the ability to check for an updated driver.
Also in the process of installing the driver there is the registration process.
The firewall may see this as a threat and puts a block on the executable file.
Also newer firewall and antivirus programs are scanning usb ports.
This will cause delays in the reaction of the device.

Hi bweig,
You can adjust the priority of a process with the Task Manager (ctrl+shift+Esc). Right click 3DxSrv.exe -> Set Priority. You can increase or decrease it. Try both extremes. See if it makes any difference.
Make note of whether the process is consuming more than 10-15% of the CPU time when you are twisting the 3Dx device. It should be consuming ~0% when the device is at rest.
Finally, you may want to unisntall 3DxProENGINEER. It isn't adding anything too significant if you don't have a SpacePilot (no LCD). You uninstall it by doing a custom install on 3DxSoftware and unchecking it.
Let us know.
