Maya 8.5 (32 bit) on Windows XP 64 bit

Post by agoenczi »

Hi pengwinzz3

Trying the reproduce the issue you described I installed Maya 8.5 as a 32 bit application on a 64 bit machine. Afterwards I installed 3DxSoftware v3-4-2. After starting the application I was immediately able to navigate and modify settings for the 3D mouse.

How did you install Maya 8.5?

Please send the content of the folder:

C:\Documents and Settings\<your>\My Documents\Maya\8.5

If you agree to send the content of this folder just let me know and I will send you a private message containing the destination address for this data.

Maya 8.5, Service Pack 1 (32 bit) on Windows XP 64 bit

Post by agoenczi »

Hi pengwinzz3

I downloaded the Service Pack 1 for Maya 8.5 (32 bit). I uninstalled Maya 8.5 and started the executable file I downloaded (myr_maya8.5sp1a_win32.exe). Afterwards I started the "Update Wizard" of the driver.

As I started Maya the plug-in was loaded and the navigation worked from the first moment I tried it.

I also found 3DxMaya.mll in the folder where it has to be:

C:/Program Files (x86)/Autodesk/Maya8.5/bin/plug-ins/

Could you test the same on another computer?

I tested it on another pc, same problem it didn't work unfortunatley

the installer and the update wizzard did not place all the files in the specific directories, so I had to do a manual installation, the 3dx logos/buttons appear in Maya but the spaceball dose not respond, the only difference on the other machine compared to mine was that I didn't get this type of thing in the script editor

_3DxOnMotionEvent 0.000000 0.000000 -0.001302 0.000000 0.000000 0.000000;
_3DxOnMotionEvent 0.000000 0.000000 -0.001302 0.000000 0.000000 0.000000;

The spaceball works and installs fine in 3d studio max btw

Hi pengwinzz3

Maya 8.5 SP1 32 bit on a Windows XP Pro 64 bit

Hi pengwinzz3

You tested the same installation (Maya 8.5 32 bit on Wondows XP Pro 64 bit) on other computers. Do they have similar configurations?

One hint: try to remove the tablet driver from the system and install 3DxSoftware again. Do you mention any difference?

the other machine is very similiar but not identical, the cpu on the other machine is slower as is the ram and it has a different motherboard

I'll try it with the wacom driver removed

Hi pengwinzz3

Please delete or rename the folder you sent me as the version you installed seems not to be the one you need.

Remove 3DxSoftware from your computer, download (from here) the recent driver and install it. Afterwards test the behaviour of the device/software and let me know about your experience.

_3DxOnMotionEvent 0.000000 0.000000 0.000000 0.000000 0.000000 0.000000;
_3DxOnMotionEvent 0.000000 0.000000 -0.001302 0.000000 0.000000 0.000000;

_3DxOnMotionEvent 0.000000 0.000000 -0.001302 0.000000 0.000000 0.000000;
_3DxOnMotionEvent 0.000000 0.000000 -0.001302 0.000000 0.000000 0.000000;
_3DxOnMotionEvent 0.000000 0.000000 -0.001302 0.000000 0.000000 0.000000;
_3DxOnMotionEvent 0.000000 0.000000 -0.001302 0.000000 0.000000 0.000000;
_3DxOnMotionEvent 0.000000 0.000000 -0.001302 0.000000 0.000000 0.000000;
_3DxOnMotionEvent 0.000000 0.000000 -0.001302 0.000000 0.000000 0.000000;
_3DxOnMotionEvent 0.000000 0.000000 0.000000 0.000000 0.000000 0.000000;
_3DxOnMotionEvent 0.000000 0.000000 0.000000 0.000000 0.000000 0.000000;
The install filename is 3DxSoftware_v3-4-2.exe

I tried a manual install aswell (this is all without the wacom drivers btw)

which file/files is it that you think is out of date?

"3.4.1" is the version of the plug-in executable file. The release version is "3.4.2". The similar version numbers is just a coincidence.
