Button for set center point / rotation center in Inventor

Post by agoenczi »

Hi KP

There is a function in Inventor called "Rotate F4" which you can map on a key from your device. Using this function you will be able to set a rotation point.

You can map that function using the "Button Mapping Editor", by selecting the category "View" and dragging the "Rotate 4F" to a key of your device.

Thanks for your help.

The "Set center point" is different in SolidWorks. The center point is locked until you pick another center point, but maybe this function is not in Inventor.

Hi KP

Unfortunately different applications means different conventions, different tools. In this case Inventor has a very different approach from the one used in SolidWorks: the rotation center will be always the geometrical center of the screen and the object will be moved according this convention.
