Readme.txt contains no installation instructions!

Post by larry217 »

The Readme.txt files of the plugins I want to use don't seem to contain instructions. This is the 3.3.6 version of 3dware. I'm running Vista Ultimate x64.

Here's an example for photoshop cs3:
3DxPhotoshopCS3
*
3Dconnexion Plug-in for Photoshop CS3
=====================================

This file explain how to install the current version of 3DxPhotoshopCS3.

The complete package is :
One "3dxPhotoshopCS3.8li"
This "readme.txt" file .

IMPORTANT:
----------

* Manual Installation

1. CHANGES FROM PREVIOUS VERSIONS
---------------------------------

Version 2.0.1
- Fix [4430] PhotoshopCS3 scg assigned Fit button SE as Esc
Version 2.0.0
- Beta Version

2. TROUBLESHOOTING
------------------

Here's another example for AutoCAD:
3DxAutoCAD
*
3Dconnexion Add-in for AutoCAD 2007
3Dconnexion Add-in for AutoCAD 2008
3Dconnexion Add-in for AutoCAD 2008 (x64)
====================================

This file explain how to install the current version of 3DxAutoCAD and how to use it.

KNOWN ISSUES:
----------
Bugzilla [4341] There is 2-3 (and longer) second delay when trying to pan/zoom in a 2d wireframe view.
This is caused when the view switches from a 2D view to a 3D AcGsView. The delay is dependent on the
size of the scene being shown and is longest the first time the 2D to 3D switch is made. Not
switching to a 3D view would eliminate the delay but then the pan and zoom are no longer usable.
The delay is a limitation of the AutoCAD API and can be reproduced with the mouse by activating the
3DOrbit command.

1. CHANGES FROM PREVIOUS VERSIONS

Version 4.1.1

Hi larry217

Thank you for contacting 3Dconnexion.

In fact the installation is done by an installer which eliminate the need for a manual installation. The text referring to the installation wasn't removed yet completely.

The installer starts automatically at the moment you start 3DxSoftware and you will have 2 ways to install: one of them is the "Complete" installation which will install all the available components in the delivered 3DxSoftware. The other way is to use the "Custom" (selecting the "Custom" radio-button) installation: this way you can choose the components you want to install.

Hi Agoenczi,

Something isn't installing right then. For AutoCAD 2008 the spaceNavigator wasn't working after 3dxware was installed until I ran the script/program within AutoCAD. Same thing for CS3, except I can't get the spaceNavigator to work at all.

Hi larry217

Please run the "Update Wizard" as that might "activate" your 3D mouse.

Please install 3DxSoftware after installing your applications because 3DxSoftware has to recognise the already installed applications. You have to install 3DxSoftware always as an administrator (same thing for the "Update Wizard").
