hey there at 3Dconnexion!

SN is a great product and as a med-student with interests in molecular biologie i like the idea, but as i use a macbook pro, can i use sn as standard pointing device like my wired apple mouse? means: yeah, like a real mouse, have anywhere seen such a question, so here is it from beautiful vienna!

Hi christoph.schulz

The 3Dconnexion 3D anvigation devices are designed to be used as mouse extensions rather then mouse replacements.

but is it possible, by using the orignal 3dconnexion driver, to use spavenavigator as pointing device?

Hi christoph.schulz

It would be possible. You have to write your own driver and you could use the device as a mouse as well. You can download our SDK free of charge.

Look For ControllerMate. The soft is very easy to work with, and allow you to interpret all the six movements to whatever you want, including moving your cursor. You further can define what is the behaviour and mapping differently following the running applications (foreground / background)
