SpaceMouse Wireless - Chrome interface for SkyCiv Structural Analysis

Post by mark-in-seattle »

First post here. On my Mac High-Sierra v10.13.6 desktop the SpaceMouse Wireless mouse (3DxWare = 10.6.4) works wonderfully in Google Sketchup (Make 2017), Google Earth and Mac Safari browser, however it does not control anything inside Google Chrome except brings up the virtual numeric keypad from SM key #1. Also have a Logitech MX-Master wireless mouse installed. Both the SpaceMouse and Logitech mouse devices work cooperatively in the applications listed above.

My question is: I use the Chrome browser to access an online structural analysis program: SkyCiv S3D, however because I haven't figured out how to enable the SpaceMouse in Chrome, SpaceMouse doesn't perform 3D rotations ...etc, inside the SkyCiv online program, which would be a big help using that application.

As a start, any suggestions for enabling Spacemouse in google Chrome, given that it already works well inside Google Earth and Sketchup ?

Thank-you.

Hello mark-in-seatlle,

you can find a list of supported applications on our website. SkyCiv S3D is not listed.

In order to use it with 3Dconnexion devices, support for 3D devices would need to be added inside this software. Adding 3D device support to an application is determined by the application developer rather than by 3Dconnexion. We have an SDK [Development Kit] which any software developer can download at no cost and which allows the integration of 3D device support in proprietary software. Please see here for more details.

We advise our customers to contact the Customer Service of applications that are lacking support and request it be added in future versions of their software. The decision to include 3D support in their development schedule is often influenced by the level of customer interest.

I recommend that you contact SkyCiv and express your wish to make clear that this is a demand from their customers.
