Mac unable to boot after installing the driver

Post by Lostinwent » Tue Jan 29, 2019 11:02 pm

I have a 2018 MacBook Pro 15”.
After updating the driver to the newest version on the website and allowed the 3dconnexion S.A.M., the computer asked for a restart.
Now the laptop is stuck with the apple logo and loading bar, it will not boot into the desktop.
Any ideas/suggestions? Anyone knows how to delete all driver files in recovery mode using terminal?

Hello dirk_space-pro,

which driver did you install?
Which macOS version do you have?

Did you already try to boot in recovery mode?

Hi,
I installed 3DX Ware 10.6.1 on MacOS 10.14.5.

After several hours waiting I booted into recovery mode and restored (10hours!) my Mac with a time machine backup.

I won‘t install this again..

Hi dirk-space-pro,

this is the first time we hear about such a problem with our latest release. Do you have any other 3rd party driver for a peripheral device installed?

I have the same problem, same setup. How can I fix this without having to restore my whole laptop?! I do not understand how your driver can make macos stop booting, what is going on!?

I have this same problem. Tried to install the latest 3dxware update, after reboot machine never finishes booting. This is a work machine I need to get running. Its an imac running Mojave.

This buggy update is a nightmare. Is there any way to fix from terminal in recovery mode? Machine wont even boot i to safe boot.

Same problem, 2018 iMac, Mojave.

I had to reinstall Mojave from the recovery console to get running again.

Its terrible that 3D Connection have know about this for many months now and done nothing.

Same here. MacBook Pro 2014, Catalina. This is the first time in owning Mac's (since 2010) that I have ever experienced a driver rendering my device unbootable.....

Hi all,

which driver version do you have? Fpr macOS 10.15 Catalina you need 3DxWareMac 10.6.4 at least. (Download here.)

I'm not seeing any response to this thread. Where did everybody go? Just installed driver 10.6.4 trying to keep up to date on 2019 MBP 15 inch with Mojave 10.14.6 and am having the same exact issue. Have run First Aid to no avail. Not looking forward to a time machine reinstall.

Correction: 2018 MBP if that makes a difference. Seems to me that if it is required to remove a driver prior to installation of the new, shouldn't this be documented in the readme? I am losing a day's work having to restore my machine to some sort of functionality.

I figured I'd give the forums one last look before returning my 12-hour old spacemouse.
"Maybe it'll work on my MBP."
lol
