CAD Mouse "move to scroll" option

Post by ymatto »

I've been using a CadMouse (and more recently a wireless CadMouse) for a number of years now – I couldn't imaging using any other mouse.

There is one option in the 3Dconnexion control panel that I keep wishing for though: the ability to assign "move to scroll" to a button. What I mean by this is that when the button is pressed, mouse movements no longer move the cursor, they are mapped to scroll movement. This allows you to hold a button and rapidly and precisely move up and down a page, much more so than using the wheel or discrete page up/down actions. (And obviously the user should be able to choose to mirror up/down based on their preferences.)

I have sometimes used my CadMouse with the USBOverdrive control panel where this option is available and found it to be fantastic for reducing carpal tunnel strain, as well as just feeling more useful than other forms of scrolling. I generally greatly prefer the 3Dconnexion control panel, but this one missing feature would make it perfect.
