SpaceNavigator don´t work with SketchUp

Post by janmelin »

My SpaceNavigator don´t work with Google Sketchup 7.
But it works with the latest version of Google Earth .
I have iMac G5, Mac OS X 10.5.6 and latest drivers for SpaceNavigator.
And I have installed the plugins but they don´t show up in SketchUp.
I have installed-uninstalled-installed both SketchUp and the drivers for SpaceNavigator in different orders.

I too am having issues with the space navigator, having just installed sketch up 7. from 6.

I just ripped my hard drive out reinstalled os X and upgraded to 4.11.

I thought I had a new space navigator install package, but can't find it, the old one will not work what is the deal?

, my machine is a 2ghz intel core duo. with 2 gb ram, and 300 gb 7500rpm drive.

I think i lost my card slot, and am having some issues with the track pad mouse button, I think I lost it when I cracked the case on the machine.

that is all I have for now is there a patch being developed? who takes the responsibility for it logitech or sketch up ?

re space navigator

Post by simon lang »

I still having keyboard problems with this mac, but that is spperate problem.

I downloaded the latest /greatest updated sotfwareofffered by logitech for the space navigator,

and still no satisfaction,

the nulooq dose create some movement in sketch, up but no where close to what I am expecting or hoping for.

My key board keeps jumping the cursor all over the place when I am typing. I hope that this is not connected.

I do like the concept of the space navigator but am a little dissapointed in execution.

The order of installation should be:

- Install SketchUp
- Install 3Dconnexion driver

If you installed the 3Dconnexion driver first, that's ok. Just run the installer again so that the 3Dconnexion SketchUp plugin gets installed correctly.

Check this directory and make sure the plugin is there

/Library/Application Support/Google SketchUp 7/SketchUp/plugins/

You should see 3DxSketchUp.bundle.plugin and 3DxSketchUp.rb in there. If they are, you should be good to go. If they're not there, what is the complete path to the SketchUp/plugins directory?

Tip: Open a console window and see if there are any error messages when you start SketchUp

The files "3DxSketchUp.bundle.plugin and 3DxSketchUp.rb" are not installed in /Library/Application Support/Google SketchUp 7/SketchUp/plugins/.
When I search for them in the computer I can´t find them anywhere.

This is what I get in the console window after starting SketchUp 7:

This is the path to the plugins:

Macintosh HD: Bibliotek (Library in Swedish):Application Support:Google SketchUp 7:plugins

and

Macintosh HD: Användare (User in Swedish):janmelin:Bibliotek(Library in Swedish):Application Support: Google SketchUp 7: SketchUp:plugins.

The issue is with the driver installer not supporting Swedish environments. To get around this, please try the following:

- Create this directory path from Macintosh HD - /Library/Application Support/Google SketchUp 7/SketchUp/plugins

- Run the driver installer. This should put the plugin in the path above

- Copy 3DxSketchUp.bundle.plugin and 3DxSketchUp.rb from /Library/Application Support/Google SketchUp 7/SketchUp/plugins into /Bibliotek/Application Support/Google SketchUp 7/SketchUp/plugins

- Delete /Library/Application Support/Google SketchUp 7/SketchUp/plugins

When I switched language from Swedish to English the directory "Bibliotek" was renamed "Library". But the new installation didn´t put the files 3DxSketchUp.rb or 3DxSketchUp.bundle.plugin in the plugins directory or anywhere else in the computer.
But then I examined the "Install 3DxMacWare (PE)" and found (deep inside) the two plugins and put them in the plugins directory.
And now it works.

3d navigator won't work with SketchUp 7 on Mac! Incredible!

Post by fionmacool »

Hello,

I was hoping to use the Space Navigator for a presentation in the next few days and I would have been in a position to promote the product but now I find that the product won't even install!

Furthermore, I can't even get phone support to help install the product. It is illegal to sell a product that doesn't do what it is supposed to do.

This is a disgrace! It should be solved immediately. Lets just say I won't be too interested in purchasing or promoting 3dconnexion products into the future without quick resolution of this issue.

Hello,

I sent you a note which will hopefully help us diagnose this problem. I appreciate any help you can provide in trouble shooting this issue. Not all systems exhibit this install issue and we would really like to be able to solve it for everyone

Thanks
