Hi blenderman,
the 3D navigation tools are designed to work in parallel with a mouse.
The driver identifies automatically the running applications, generally the plug-ins are intended for the button-mappings only.

the versions v3-0-7 and v3-0-9 of our 3DxSoftware doesn't support MS-Office. You can download and install the 3DxOffice Plug-In from our Driver Download page:

selecting "Archive (Legacy Software)" and the 3DxOffice Plug-In.

I would suggest you to try your device with the Demos. The cube demo would be suitable for a test.
