this never occurred to me, this seems to be a problem with the registry. I would do the following (but do it at your own risk): 1. stop 3dsmax and 3DxWare 2. run regedit, and navigate to the following key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\3Dconnexion\3DxStudio 3. rename this key to 3DxStudio.bak 4. reinsta...

problem solved. This 0xc000007b error appears to point to a corrupted Windows component. After a new installation of W7, 3dxHome.exe starts as expected. Problem is with netbooks, you can't repair the OS with a USB stick, at least for me it did not work. Windows tells me that I first have to remove t...

oh, sorry, I misunderstood. Of course after a new driver installation the custom profile remains. What I described is when you install a new OS or use a different computer.

here I'm not sure, but if there is an entry in the registry that you can somehow identify as Softimage or XSI, you can export that entry to create a reg file. Later, in the new OS, you can double-click on that reg file, and the customization is restored. The key should be at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Softwa...

the SPP has a different approach with 2x10+7 buttons, which is enough for many applications. Still, switchable configurations could be useful, as we sometimes do one thing, e.g. modeling, for some hours or days, then UV layout/shader work for some hours, etc. A user here from the forum had the brill...

it's a bit difficult to say, both have their advantages. I like the alt/ctrl/shift/esc buttons of the SP, those of the SPP are a bit small. Since these buttons are very important, I would prefer the SP. But the SP's 1-6 buttons I find rather bad, also the location of the panel and config buttons. Th...

I think the answer is yes. The driver for SP (Space Pilot) was always the same as for SPP (Space Pilot Pro). 3Dconnexion often forget to mention SP, or deliberately don't mention it, because it is no more available to buy I think.

thank you very much for clarification. Am I correct that it is now up to the Blender programmers to implement 3Dx decives natively? Should we Blender users ask them to put some effort into the next Blender update, or are there plans at 3Dconnexion to create a new plugin? I understand that it is no f...

hm, I just read the answer in the other thread from a moderator. Now I'm confused myself. Usually the moderators play the ball to the software company to develop plugins. It is, again, not clear for the end user.

well, for the end user it is not so clear, which company is supposed to develop a specific plugin. In this case, it's the Blender guys that need to do it. When you check out the Blender community, you will find long threads asking for a 2.5 plugin, so we must wait for them to do it. There is a worki...

yes, that's the way it works. Use the version that is two or three years old, and there won't be any problems. It's always good to have a second computer or partition where you can test new versions, and if it works well for some weeks with all devices attached, it is relatively save to upgrade soft...

I can't help you with the viewport performance issue, but as a general rule it is important to update software only if all drivers and devices are fully supported. This can take some months or years, and until that day we must use the older software version where drivers and devices work fine. Many ...
