as far as I remember support for SolidWorks 2010 was available with 3DxSoftware 3.8 and higher. But this version is not availble for the SpaceBall 5000 USB which is a legacy device.

can you see the driver running? It might be that the HID system driver grabs the 3D mouse, but as soon as you start the 3DxWare daemon (/etc/3DxWare/daemon/3dxsrv) the 3D mouse should not move anymore the cursor.

I am glad you found the cause for the problem. The sticky bit is not set by the installation nor when we create the installation package. Something must have been messed up. We will keep an eye on it to see if this is related in any way to Red Hat 5.5. Thanks for information.

You can deactivate Wildfire in the LCD Manager. Go to the tab "SpacePilot PRO LCD" in the 3Dconnexion Control Panel and launch the LCD Manager from there. In the LCD Manager go to "Programs" and unselect the little tickboxes for Wildfire.
