Hi Uta and Fred,
Thanks for your interest and replies. It turns out that Fred was right; I just had to turn off the antivirus when I loaded the driver, and then it worked fine.
No problems now. Hope I don't have to do this for each reboot, but still at least I know how to fix it.
Thanks again.

OK, I've read the whole stupid (yes, not stupid, but verrry looong) thread.

I think you are supposed to copy the .sys file to c:\windows\system32\drivers and the .inf file to c:\windows\inf *not* what you listed in your post above.

Maybe that's your problem.

Anumunrama, I have the same setup, so I am interested if you can get it to work. I'm a little scared to wreck my system. Are you pressing F8 when you reboot to allow the unsigned drivers to load? Should the 64 bit drivers really be placed in the system32/drivers directory? That seems odd, but I am a...

OK, I followed those steps and still it doesn't start.

The SpaceNavigator is plugged directly into the PC USB port, I have the most current drivers from the website installed, I pressed the keys, inserted, waited, released keys, and ... nothing.

Vista 64, SolidWorks 2009 64 bit

Hi,
I am trying to use my Space Navigator under Vista 64, in SolidWorks 2009; I have reloaded the drivers (and rebooted, too, Fred) and the 3DXWare just refuses to load.
I am also running a Wacom tablet and a bluetooth mouse.

Any idea why the hardware is AWOL?

thanks.

I just want to add my voice to this thread. 3DCONNEXION !!!!!!! Listen!!! You have a *great* piece of hardware that is missing a vital piece of software. It seems like you have decided that it would be just too much trouble to have so many people buy your product if you made it able to work like a m...
