Also: Another person I'm in touch with says she can't get the SN's Custom Functions to work on Windows XP. I can reproduce this lack of functionality after a fresh restart without opening Second Life, so the problem appears independent of SL. I'm going to submit a ticket to official support, in case...

Custom Functions broken on Windows but works on Mac?
Friendly greetings! I'm trying to use the SpaceNavigator PE/SE with Second Life. I've noticed the same following problem as others and am curious for more info: I want to setup a Custom Function (macro) that does a keystroke like "Ctrl-Shift-S". It works on Mac but doesn't work on Windows....

flomotan, thanks for trying this too! I'll look forward to future developments to make this work — it'd be great because the right mouse button could be used to start/stop a movie recorder program, or take snapshots as I mentioned. SpaceNavigator PE: Make right button work with macros in SL?
Friendly greetings! I'm enjoying using my SpaceNavigator a LOT with Second Life. I know left button is for Flycam, but right mouse button doesn't do keystroke sequences specified in the control panel. It's strange, because if I choose Button Configuration > R and select "Esc Key", it works...
